This extension kit is necessary for some electrical kits in order to switch off the rear fog lamp (NSL) or the parking assistance system (PDC) of your vehicle when using a bicycle carrier or trailer.
When using a trailer, the rear fog lamp of the towing vehicle must be switched off to reducing glare. This is obligatory in Germany when using load carriers (e.g. bicycle carriers).
If your vehicle is equipped ex-factory with a parking assistance system, it is possible that the trailer is recognised as an obstacle when reversing and signalled by a constant warning sound. This extension kit automatically deactivates the parking assistance system if a towbar or load carrier is connected and the reverse gear is selected.
