If your car has a parking assistance feature it can be automatically shut down when the trailer is coupled to the towbar. For this function you need this optional item: 171084. TowTec specifies an intallation time of 1 hour(s) for this 13 pin wiring kit. We know from experience that it is better to foresee 1 hour(s). It's not required to connect each cable to a trailer socket. A socket is already connected with this kit.
According to StVZO §49a para. 9a, the use of a bicycle carrier (load carrier) is not permitted if the rear fog light(s) are not switched off automatically. With the extension kit 171084, the rear fog light(s) of your vehicle can be switched off when towing a trailer or using a bicycle carrier.
It is possible to extend pin 9 of the trailer socket to steady plus (to power electric items in the trailer) or pin 9 to steady plus and pin 10 to charge (e.g. a separate battery in the trailer). By adding the extension set 107650 you can combine charging and steady plus.
